MR. OKEOWO, A. OLUSEGUN, (B.A., M.Sc, FEPIN, CAEM, MNAEP (US), FNIMN,)
Director General/CEO
Mr. Segun Okeowo serves as the Direector General and Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Practitioners' Institute of Nigeria — a role in which he brings to bar over three decades of multi-disciplinary excellence across environmental consultancy, marketing, management, and institutional development. As the Institute's co-founder and chief executive, he embodies EPIN's founding vision: to establish a world-class professional body that elevates the practice of environmental management across Nigeria and the African continent.
His academic foundation — a B.A. (Honours) in Geography (University of Lagos, 1987) and an M.Sc. in Geography and Planning with specialisation in Hydrology and Remote Sensing (University of Lagos, 1991) — gave him the analytical and scientific rigour that underpins his approach to environmental institution-building. His early career in chartered accountancy firms sharpened his financial discipline, while his subsequent transition into environmental practice allowed him to apply this discipline to one of the most consequential sectors of Nigeria's economy.
As the Principal Founder of the Pan African Environmental Research Initiative (PAN AFREI) and the Association of African Environmental Practitioners (AAEP) — in addition to co-founding EPIN itself — Mr. Okeowo has demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for conceiving and sustaining professional institutions that outlast their founding moments. He regularly facilitates training programmes in Environmental Management, Marketing, and General Management, and holds membership in professional bodies spanning Canada, the United States, and multiple Nigerian institutes.
In his executive capacity, Mr. Okeowo is responsible for the overall leadership of EPIN's Secretariat, implementation of Governing Council decisions, management of the Institute's strategic partnerships, and coordination of international liaison activities. His leadership ensures that EPIN operates with the rigour, transparency, and ambition befitting a leading African environmental professional institution.
